Australian Pink Opal

Australian pink opal ranks 6.0 to 7.0 on the Mohs’ scale of hardness. Strictly speaking, they’re not true opal, but pink mookaite, Australian pink opal is just a trade name. They are actually opalized radiolarite. It’s formation places it somewhere between chalcedony and opal in physical properties. Perfectly fine for daily wear, and ideal to be used in jewelry. The pink comes from Manganese, which is a common colour causing element of gemstones.
